Empowering Identity Services: PSA Zambales Hosts Online Training on Secure National ID Authentication

Zambales, Philippines – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Zambales Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted a virtual lecture aimed at equipping employees of Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) from Zambales and Olongapo City with updated knowledge on the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), its legal basis, and secure authentication mechanisms.

Held via Zoom on June 30, 2025, the activity sought to strengthen the awareness and understanding of civil registration frontliners on Republic Act No. 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System Act of 2018. The lecture underscored the law’s salient features and its critical role in delivering efficient and secure identity services to the public.

The session began with an invocation and welcoming remarks from PSA Zambales, formally opening the event and acknowledging the commitment of all participants. Information Officer I Dona D. Balasabas led the lecture, utilizing an engaging, interactive format that began with a question-and-answer segment to gauge participants’ prior knowledge and clarify misconceptions about the National ID system.

Key topics discussed during the session included:
Overview of RA 11055 – Purpose, scope, and mandate for a unified national identification system.
National ID Registration Process – Procedures covering the collection of demographic and biometric data, issuance, and authentication.
Security Features of the National ID – A detailed look into the physical and digital safeguards, including anti-fraud mechanisms.
National ID Authentication Services – Introduction to secure digital verification methods.
Digital National ID Generation via eGovPH App – How citizens can access their digital IDs through government platforms.

To evaluate learning outcomes, participants completed a post-evaluation test through the online platform Quizzes.

In her closing remarks, Ms. Balasabas expressed gratitude to the attendees for their active participation. She emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained to enhance the integrity and efficiency of civil registration services in the province.

The event concluded with a virtual photo opportunity, symbolizing the success and collaborative spirit of the half-day training session.
