Aurora’s Inflation Decelerate to 1.5 Percent

Aurora’s annual inflation decreased to 1.5 percent in May 2025 which was 0.5 percent point lower from 2.0 percent in April 2025 and 0.1 percentage points lower from 1.6 percent in May 2024. (Refer to Figure 1)

 

Across regions, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has the highest inflation rate recorded at 2.5 percent in May 2025, followed by Ilocos Region at 2.3 percent and Bicol Region at 2.2 percent. Meanwhile, BARMM has the lowest inflation rate at -1.6 percent.

The headline inflation in the country slowed down at 1.3 percent in May 2025.

Figure 2 presents the annual inflation rates of the different regions in the Philippines in May 2025.

 

In Aurora, the decrease in inflation could be mainly attributed to the lower increment posted by the index of Health at 13.3 percent from 13.9 percent in April 2025. This was followed by the index of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 2.6 percent.

Listed below are the indices that recorded lower monthly increments:

•    Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (1.0% from 1.1%);
•    Recreation, Sport and Culture (2.3% from 2.6%);
•    Information and Communication (0.1% from 0.2%);
•    Clothing and Footwear (-0.2% from 0.0%); 
•    Transport (-3.4% from -2.3%); and
•    Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels (-6.9% from 2.8%);

On the other hand, higher monthly increment was recorded in the following index:

•    Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (3.4% from 1.2%).

Lastly, the following indices showed same rate from that of the previous month:

•    Education Services (22.9%);
•    Restaurants and Accommodation Services (3.1%);
•    Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (2.8%); and
•    Financial Services (0.0%).

The annual growth rate in the provincial food index posted an increase in rate at 2.3 percentage points from 1.1 percent in April 2025 to 3.4 percent in May 2025. This trend was attributed by the higher monthly increments of the index of Vegetables, Tubers, Plantains, Cooking Bananas, and Pulses at 13.8 percent in May 2025 from 1.9 percent in April 2025. (Refer to Table 1.a)

Listed below are the following indices that recorded higher annual increments from April 2025 to May 2025:

•    Fish and other seafood (3.7% from 0.8%); 
•    Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals (9.2% from 8.4%);
•    Fruits and Nuts (38.2% from 36.0%);
•    Oils and Fats (9.4% from 7.6%); 
•    Milk, Other Dairy Products, and Eggs (8.1% from 8.0%); and
•    Corn (4.9% from 4.1%).

Meanwhile, lower annual increment was noted only in the following indices:

•    Flour, Bread and Other Bakery Products, Pasta Products, and Other Cereals (2.8% from 2.9%); 
•    Sugar, Confectionery and Desserts (1.5% from 2.7%); and
•    Ready-made Food and Other Food Products N.E.C (3.8% from 4.2%).

For May 2025, Pampanga and Angeles City recorded the highest inflation rate in the region at 3.1 percent followed by Olongapo City at 2.3 percent. Bulacan ranked 3rd at 1.8 percent. This was followed by Aurora and Tarlac at 1.5 percent and 1.2 percent respectively.

Bataan and Nueva Ecija recorded an inflation rate of 0.5 percent and -0.1 percent, respectively. Zambales still recorded the lowest inflation rate in the region at 0.0 percent. (Refer to Figure 3)
