14 May 2024 - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Zambales convened with the Municipal Census Coordinating Board (MCCB) of Botolan in preparation for the 2024 Census of Population–Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS). The meeting took place at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall and attended by representatives of various department heads of the Botolan local government unit (LGU) who serve as members of the board. Representatives from the Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, a civil society organization, and the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan were also present.

PSA Zambales Senior Statistical Specialist Rizabelle L. Mawili presided over the meeting on behalf of Local Chief Executive Jun Omar Ebdane. She presented an overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, including its scope, coverage, legal basis, and rationale. The discussion also covered the roles and responsibilities of MCCB members and the potential assistance they can provide during the operation. A timetable of activities was presented to keep everyone informed about the upcoming phases of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.

PSA is mandated to administer periodic nationwide censuses on population and housing and to lead the implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System in every city and municipality. As stipulated in Republic Act 11315 or the CBMS Act, the data generated from CBMS will be used for local planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring over time. The results will help government planners to design appropriate policies and interventions for the target beneficiaries. Local stakeholders are looking forward to the successful implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in Botolan.
