Olongapo City – Personnel from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Zambales Provincial Statistical Office actively participated in a regional training program organized by the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office III (RSSO III) from April 22 to 25, 2025. The four-day workshop, held at the Seorable Grand Leisure Hotel, brought together statistical staff from all seven provinces under RSSO III to prepare for the upcoming May 2025 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS).
This latest LFS introduces a significant enhancement: the inclusion of rider questions on volunteer work. These additions aim to collect valuable data on unpaid labor and community service—an often-overlooked but essential part of the national labor force.
“The inclusion of volunteer work in the LFS is a progressive step toward recognizing the contributions of unpaid labor to our communities and economy,” said Norman L. Bundalian, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Zambales. “Our team is now fully prepared to implement this module and help build a more comprehensive picture of labor activity in the province.”
The training equipped PSA Zambales personnel with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively administer the updated survey. Key sessions focused on survey methodology, the use of digital data collection tools, and specialized interviewing techniques designed to ensure the accurate and respectful collection of information on volunteer activities.
PSA Zambales’ participation, alongside counterparts from the six other provinces in Region III, reflects a strong regional commitment to advancing labor statistics. The insights gathered from this enhanced survey will support more informed policy decisions and development planning that reflect the full spectrum of labor contributions across Central Luzon.
