Olongapo City, Zambales — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Zambales Provincial Statistical Office is currently holding a crucial 3rd Level Training for the upcoming May 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS). The four-day intensive training, hosted at the PSA Zambales Office in Olongapo City, aims to equip five Statistical Researchers with the technical skills and knowledge necessary to effectively carry out the LFS across the province of Zambales and Olongapo City.
A key enhancement in this round of the LFS is the inclusion of rider questions on volunteer work, designed to capture the extent and impact of unpaid labor in communities. By collecting data on volunteer activities, the PSA seeks to gain deeper insights into the various forms of work that contribute to economic and social development beyond traditional employment. The training ensures that Statistical Researchers are well-prepared to administer these new questions accurately and sensitively.
Leading the sessions are Statistical Specialist Melinda G. Borja, Statistical Analyst Rowell M. Echon, and Information Officer I Dona D. Balasabas, who are providing in-depth instruction on survey methodology, effective interview techniques, and proper use of data collection tools. The program also emphasizes data quality control and strict adherence to ethical standards, both of which are critical to ensuring the integrity and reliability of the survey results.
Through this targeted training, PSA Zambales reaffirms its commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based labor statistics that inform policy and support inclusive development. The trained researchers will play a pivotal role in gathering accurate and meaningful data during the May 2025 LFS.
