30 October 2024. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Aurora under the lead of Supervising Statistical Specialist Officer-in-Charge Ferdinand E. Santiago concluded the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) with a closing ceremony held on October 30, 2024 at the PSO Aurora Office.

Present in the event were the office-based personnel of PSA-Aurora and the staff and officials from the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) and Local Government Unit (LGU) who attended virtually.

The Master of Ceremony, Administrative Clerk Roan Mae E. Reopta, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and emphasized the importance of the occasion.

 

 

Supervising Statistical Specialist Officer-in-Charge Ferdinand E. Santiago extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the significance of the National Statistics Month in promoting statistical awareness across the country. He began by acknowledging the vital role that statistics play in shaping policies, guiding decision-making, and driving development at both local and national levels.

 

During the event, data on Vital Statistics in Aurora was presented by Senior Statistical Specialist Elizabeth Q. Lopez. Emphasizing the importance of accurate and up-to-date vital statistics in informing government policies and interventions.  She provided PSA-Aurora personnel and invited guests with an overview of the Selected Basic Statistical Indicators from various PSA surveys and censuses.

SrSS Elizabeth Q. Lopez explained how these statistics help in monitoring population growth, identifying areas in need of health and social services, and formulating strategies for sustainable development.

By presenting the most recent data available, she illustrated trends and patterns specific to Aurora, highlighting both challenges and areas of improvement. The discussion also served as an opportunity for the participants to engage in a dialogue about the importance of statistical literacy and the role of the public in supporting data collection efforts.

 

The celebration highlighted the awarding ceremony for the top three (3) winners of the Virtual Slogan Contest conducted in celebration of the 35th NSM. Each of them received a certificate of recognition, a plaque, and a token.

The top three (3) winners for the Statistical Virtual Slogan Contest for Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) and Local Government Unit (LGU) were:

    • 1st Place: MPDO-LGU Maria Aurora
    • 2nd Place: MPDO-LGU San Luis
    • 3rd Place: MPDO-LGU Casiguran     

Other participants were MPDO-LGU Dingalan and MPDO-LGU Dilasag.

As part of the activities marking the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM), PSA-Aurora organized a series of interactive and engaging games aimed at promoting statistical awareness and fostering camaraderie among participants. Designed to be both educational and enjoyable, encouraging teamwork, communication, and a deeper understanding of statistical concepts.

 

The interactive and engaging games was facilitated by SrSS Elizabeth Q. Lopez, with assistance from other PSA-Aurora staff, who ensured the smooth conduct of the games. The participants included PSA-Aurora personnel all of whom enthusiastically joined in the activities.

PSA-Aurora extends its warmest congratulations to all the winners and participants expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the 35th NSM celebration.
