In the third quarter of 2024, the volume of fisheries production decreased by 12.3 percent compared to the production in the same quarter of 2023. The production decreased by 51.78 metric tons (MT) in the same quarter of 2023 with 370.49 metric tons in the third quarter of 2024 from 422.27 MT in the third quarter of 2024. (Table 1)
The Inland Municipal Fisheries volume of production posted 22.20 MT in the third quarter of 2023 to 16.20 MT in the same quarter of 2024. This represents a 27.0 percent decrease compared to the production of the same quarter last year. Meanwhile, Aquaculture Fisheries recorded 354.29 MT in the third quarter of 2024 from the 400.07 MT in the same quarter of 2023 with a 11.4 percent decrease compared to the production of the same quarter.

Among the subsectors, Aquaculture made the largest contribution, accounting for 354.29 MT or 95.6 percent of the total fishery production in the third quarter of 2024. On the other hand, Inland Municipal Fisheries contributed 16.20 MT or 4.4% of the total fishery production. (Figure 2)
In terms of value of production, the Aquaculture sector in the third quarter 2024 posted a total of PhP 32.2 million lower by 21.4% in same quarter of 2023 with a value of PhP 41.1 million. Meanwhile, value of production in the third quarter 2024 for Inland Municipal reported at PhP 0.8 million lower by 41.6 % from the Php 1.3 million in the same quarter of 2023. (Figure 3)
Top 5 Common Species by Volume of Production in the Third Quarter of 2024
For the top five species in Tarlac, Tilapia decreased by 19.9% in the third quarter of 2024. from 395.06 MT in the third quarter of 2023 to 316.29 MT in the same quarter of 2024. On the Followed by Catfish with 26.20 MT which posted an increase of 360.5% from the production in the same quarter of 2023. Next is Carp with 11.53 MT followed by Mudfish with 7.85 MT and last is Gourami with 6.43 MT. (Table 2 and Figure 4)
