28 August 2023 – City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Central Luzon announces the conduct of the 2023 Integrated Processing of Maps (IPM) from various activities, which will be undertaken from 28 August 2023 to 30 November 2023.
As part of its steadfast strive on embracing emerging technologies and practical applications, PSA boards on another innovation and advancement on integrating statistical data and geospatial information. The 2023 IPM from various activities envisions to update existing digitized census maps to come up with accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date maps for use in data collection during national censuses and sample survey operations, as well as in the Community-Based Monitoring System data collection.
Specifically, the main objectives of the 2023 IPM from various activities are the following:
1. Validation and confirmation of digitized territorial and political boundaries researched and coordinated with Local Government Units (LGUs), Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Land Management Bureau (DENR-LMB), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and other sources.
2. Validation and confirmation of all integrated geotagged points collected or updated from different mapping activities that can be linked to its corresponding statistical data.
3. Updating of information on the building characteristics and identifying core facilities from CBMS Form 5 in selected areas as a rider for this activity.
The activity also aims to develop geo-enabled sampling frames for the Master Sample for household-based surveys and other sampling frames for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Establishment-based Surveys.
