Highest Number of Registered Marriage from 2013-2018 was in the year 2013

In 2018, a total of 51,712 marriages were recorded in Central Luzon.  From years 2013 to 2016, the number of marriages in the region recorded constant negative percent change but managed to increase in 2017 with 2.9 percent change or equivalent to 1,432 marriages. (see Figure 1)

Most number of marriages recorded in Pampanga

In 2018, Pampanga recorded the most number of marriages in Central Luzon accounting to 25.7 percent of the total number of marriages in the region.  Three provinces exhibited negative change in the recorded number of marriages from 2017-2018: Bataan (5.7%), Tarlac (3.0%), and Zambales (0.3%).  Meanwhile, the province of Aurora posted the highest positive percent change among the provinces in the region at 7.4 percent. (see Figure 2)

Most marriages contracted in December

The months of December (14.0%), April (11.8%), and May (10.5%) were the top three months with the most marriages in 2018, exhibiting more than 10.0 percent of the total marriages in the region.  While, the month of September was shown to be the least preferred month for marriage, recording the lowest at 5.2 percent. (see Figure 3)

Women married younger than men

In 2018, the median age of women who got married was 26 years old, while it was 28 years old for men. (see Figure 4)

About 36.9 percent of men who got married in 2018 in the region belonged to ages between 25-29 years old, while 34.2 percent of women were in the age group of 20-24 years old.









Data on marriages presented here were obtained from the Certificates of Marriage (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the country and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Information presented includes registered marriages which occurred from January to December 2018 and received at the Civil Registration Service until 31 March 2019. Figures presented are preliminary counts. Marriages of Filipinos abroad which were reported to the Philippine Foreign Service Posts are presented in a separate report.

Marriage is a contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishm­ent of conjugal and family life.

Median Age is the age that divides a population into two numerically equally sized groups - that is, half the people are younger than this age and half are older.
